Minutes of the Board of Trustees Twin Falls Public Library The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, in the Library’s Board Room. Attending the meeting were Trustees Kyle Tarbet, John Van Engelen, Cindy Bezas, Monica D’Angelo. Library Director Tara Bartley, Staff Karolee Sorenson and Staff Adam Day, IT Supervisor. Absent Chris Vaage Chairman and Ruth Pierce City Council Liaison.
Acting Chairman Kyle Tarbet called the meeting to order at 4:34 pm with brief introductions.
Motion was made to approve the agenda for November 14, 2018 meeting. John Van Engelen motioned to approve the agenda; Monica D’Angelo 2nd the motion.
The Trustees MSC approval of the October 10, 2018 minutes. Cindy Bezas motioned to approve the minutes; John Van Engelen 2nd the motion.
Approval of Financial Statements The Trustees MSC the approval of the October 2018 bills. John Van Engelen made the motion to approve last month’s bills, Cindy Bezas 2nd the motion. Roll call vote taken. Approved 4-0. Financial/Statistical report: Review of the financial reports. Discussion was held regarding monthly fund request from City. Decision to continue as is. John VanEngelen motioned to approve the financial statements for October 2018; Monica D’Angelo 2nd the motion. Roll call vote taken. Approved 4-0.
November 2 – All Staff meeting. Carl Erickson with ICRMP presented EEO training on harassment inside the workplace.
November 5 – WWI 100 year’s presentation. The library will be honoring Veterans the month of November and will have the Hero’s tree. Patrons can place an ornament honoring a Veteran on the tree.
November 12 – The library will be closed in honor of Veterans Day.
November 12- 17th – Idaho Family Read Week. Spy and Scavenger Hunt will be held on Saturday. Participating families will receive a free book to take home while supplies last.
November 22 – The library will be closed for Thanksgiving
November 30 – The library will be participating in the Festival of Lights parade. December – Food for Fines. For every donation of one a dollar will be deducted off of fines up to $20.00. Donations will be taken to South Central Community Action.
December 24-25 The library will be closed for Christmas December 31 – The library will close at 2:00 pm and January 1 for New Year’s Day.
January 4 – The library will have their annual Holiday Party at the Red Lion Inn.
The Foundation will meet with Tara to discuss where the library can use the money that is currently being deposited with Baker and Taylor for books. Donor appreciation day 36 recipients.
Review of job descriptions for Circulation Clerk, Serials Clerk, and Cataloging/Technical Services Assistant. Monica D’Angelo motioned to approve the new descriptions; Cindy Bezas 2nd the motion. Request to review and update the Bylaws and Rules; Request to review and update Personnel Policy. Request was granted. Updates will be reviewed in January meeting.
Library Staff Report: (Adam Day, IT Supervisor) Adam spoke to the Board about what was going on with IT in the library and IMLS Conference he and Tara attended in Chicago. Adam has been working with ICLF in launching our session management tool, which has already been launched in Salmon, Idaho library. In January ICFL with takeover future deployment in other areas of the state. Jamax (coin ops) working on their hardware to talk to each other. Educator kits are ready to check out. Request for kits can be accepted via our website and then placed on the calendar. Capital Improvements for this year – Network breakdown technology within the building. New security cameras. Touch Screen cataloging in youth services. Two multimedia systems in the library. The library has purchased three virtual headsets. Implementing these headsets into programing throughout the library. Attended the IMLS Broadband Conference in Chicago. Implementing broadband measurement tools within libraries across the United States.
The library has been researching information to implement a Wellness Program for Staff to be implemented into the budget for next year. Radio-frequency identification (RFID) CJ Rasmusson is head of the committee to do research on RFID within the library. Foundation meeting – Tara met with the executive committee to discuss moving money from Baker & Taylor to different projects within the library. Rolling shelves in children’s area, hotspots and databases were among the projects discussed. The library is looking for a 2019 trustee. December 8 – Staff safety training. Topic in shelter training.
