The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, in the Library’s Board Room. Attending the meeting were Trustees Chris Vaage, Kyle Tarbet, John Van Engelen, Cindy Bezas, Monica D’Angelo and City Council Library Liaison Ruth Pierce. Library Director Tara Bartley, Staff Karolee Sorenson and Outreach Department Head Katie Johnson.
Chairman Chris Vaage called the meeting to order at 4:32 pm with brief introductions.
Motion was made to approve and amend the agenda to include the Deed of Gift/ Acceptance of Gift and Donations. Kyle Tarbet motioned to approve and Monica D’Angelo 2nd. The Trustees MSC approval of the June 13, 2018 minutes. Kyle Tarbet motioned to approve. Cindy Bezas 2nd the motion.
Approval of Financial Statements The Trustees MSC the approval of the June 2018 bills. John Van Engelen made the motion to approve last month’s bills, Cindy Bezas 2nd the motion. Roll call vote taken. Approved 5-0. Financial/Statistical report: John Van Engelen recommended we review the budget breakdown in the August 8, 2018 meeting. Monica D’Angelo made the motion to approve the June 2018 Financial Statements. Cindy Bezas 2nd the motion. Roll call vote taken. Approved 5-0.
June 27 – POP-UP Book sale 10-6. The books sold for .25 cents for children, .50 cents for paperback and $1.00 for hard back. The Foundation made approximately $800.00 with $200.00 being in the sale of art.
The next POP-UP Book sale will be August 15, 2018 10:00 am to 6:00 pm
The first original John Hayes maquette was donated to the Foundation. The maquette will be placed in the Idaho Room.
Idaho Power has a display in the library on “The Power of Water”.
The library received a donation from Dr. Sam Barker. Deed of Gift/ Acceptance of Gift from Foundation was signed by Chris Vaage and Cindy Bezas.
The Library will close at 6:00 pm Thursday August 9, for the library staff picnic. Friday,
July 13 Coffee with author Niels Nokkentved at 10:00 am.

Summer Reading continues through July.
Commons area downtown is open and running. A statue of John Hayes is outside of City Hall next to the fountain. The city is in the process of presenting the 2019 budget to council. Fourth of July fireworks display.
September 8, 2018 is the Scramble Fore Books at the Twin Falls Golf Club with start times 8:30 am and 1:45 pm. Sponsorship opportunities are still available.
June 18 met with the city’s finance department to discuss the budget and budget process. After discussion regarding the budget it was determined the budget was justified and reasonable. Tara will attend the council meeting on Monday July 23 to discuss the library as a community learning center.
The Chrome Book policy was revised to read “Additional fines maybe accrued on certain materials”. The library will inform patrons of the change. John Van Engelen motioned to approve the revised policy and Kyle Tarbet 2nd the motion. The Circulation policy was updated. Kyle Tarbet motioned to approve the updated policy and Cindy Bezas 2nd the motion. Educational Assistance policy was presented. Monica D’Angelo motioned to approve the Educational Assistance policy and John Van Engelen 2nd the motion.
Library Staff Report: (Katie Johnson) Katie came to work for the library on April 2, 2018 as the Outreach Department Supervisor. Katie moved from Coos bay, Oregon with her family of five children and a husband. Katie worked for the Carson City, Nevada library in Adult Collections and Reference. Katie’s main focus as Outreach supervisor is the book mobile. She has been working on a seasonal schedule, bookmobile collection, and programing.
The library received a reimbursement from ICFL for Hotspots. We will be ordering addition hotspots from Tech Soup and other technology. Special Smiles contacted the library regarding using their mobile lab to help special needs and geriatric patients with dental care. Would like to bring her mobile dental lab to the library to give just basic dental care. Discussion was held regarding the pros and cons. Kyle will speak with her regarding questions and report next meeting in August. The library was asked to join in the pilot program, “Measuring Library Broadband Networks for the National Digital Platform.” Lynx meetings will be held this month in the library. IT on July 13, Circulation and Directors on July 20th. The Directors meeting will be held remotely.
