How-to for Kindle

Section 1: Prerequisites

  • Amazon Account - Create an account at http://www.amazon.com/
    * Kindle users should have already signed up for an account when the device was activated.
  • Kindle Device with a WiFi connection.

Section 2: Getting eBooks for Kindle

  1. To download eBooks to the Kindle go to http://ebooks.twinfallspubliclibrary.org and browse the collection for your item.
  2. Selected an item you would like to download and click on the "Add to Cart" link for the Kindle book format.

  3. Once you have added to your cart you will need to click on the Proceed to Checkout link.

  4. At the checkout screen you will need to select the checkout period for all items being checked out. You may select either 7 or 14 day loan periods. At the end of the loan period the item will automatically be checked back in. When ready click on the Confirm Check Out button located at the bottom of your cart.

  5. Click on the "Get for Kindle" button. This will take you to Amazon.com where you will need to login under your Amazon.com account that's associated with your device.

  6. Once logged into Amazon.com you will be directed to a Kindle management page. Click on the "Get library book" button and the eBook will be delivered to your Kindle over a wireless connection. Please make sure to have your WiFi connection enabled and connected on your device.

How-to for Nook Color/Tablet

Section 1: Prerequisites

  • Barnes & Noble Account - Create an account at http://www.barnesandnoble.com/
    * Nook users should have already signed up for an account when the device was activated.
  • Adobe Digital Editions software - Download at http://www.adobe.com/products/digitaleditions/
    * When installing the Adobe Digital Editions software it will require you to sign-up for a free Adobe account. This account will be used for activating the eBooks once downloaded.

Section 2: Getting eBooks for Nook

  1. To download eBooks to the Nook Color/Tablet go to http://ebooks.twinfallspubliclibrary.org and browse the collection for your item.
  2. Selected an item you would like to download and click on the "Add to Cart" link for the Adobe EPUB eBook format.

  3. Once you have added to your cart you will need to click on the Proceed to Checkout link.

  4. At the checkout screen you will need to select the checkout period for all items being checked out. You may select either 7 or 14 day loan periods. At the end of the loan period the item will automatically be checked back in. When ready click on the Confirm Check Out button located at the bottom of your cart.

  5. The next screen will ask you do download the eBook to your computer. To do this, simply click on the Download button. This will download the eBook to you computers default download folder. Please remember which location the eBook was downloaded to.

    • For Internet Explorer users select the "Open" option.
    • For Firefox users open the item by double-clicking on the download from the download window.
    • For Chrome users click on the downloaded item located on the download bar at the bottom of the browser screen.
  6. Once you have opened the downloaded eBook your computer will launch Adobe Digital Editions and add that item to your library.

  7. The next step is to add the eBook to your Nook device. Plug your Nook into your computer via the USB cable. Once the device has been detected within Adobe Digital Editions simply click-and-drag your new eBook from the library over to your device in the left pane.

    The eBook will be copied over to your Nook.
  8. Safely remove the Nook from your computer and look for your new eBook within the Nook Library. Select the My Stuff tab and then select the My Files option.

  9. Under the My Files section you should see your eBook. Simple select the eBook and enjoy!
